New Kellogg's Cinnamon Frosted Flakes - Review

At the behest of Twitter posts requesting a Cinnamon Frosted Flakes, a year ago the company began working on finding the right and after trying 100 different variations they now have the product on local grocery shelves.

I picked up a box at our local Meijer's superstore and it was on sale 2 for $5.

Although on the box it appears to have Cinnamon flecks, when I poured the cereal into the bowl the appearance was the same as regular Frosted Flakes.

When I opened the box I immediately smelled a whiff of Cinnamon and was concerned the flavor might be overpowering, but it was not; it was more of a hint of Cinnamon.

By comparison to another Cinnamony Cereal, its competitor Cinnamon Toast Crunch it has much less sugar and cinnamon and a good option if you are looking for a more grown-up version of a Cinnamon cereal and to cut down on sugar.

The only thing is it takes a little getting used to if you are been a long term Frosted Flakes lover as you are used to a certain taste with that texture and the first few spoonfuls tasted funny to me because of that on the first bowl that I had and you may have the same objection especially from children, but once you get past that it is enjoyable.

The new cinnamon version is similar to the original as far as having 10 grams sugar in a 3/4 cup serving and is 110 calories without milk.

Limited Time - Taco Bell Double Stack Tacos - $1 each Cool Habarnero & Nacho Crunch

Cool Habernero Double Stack Taco

For a limited time, Taco Bell is offering a trio of "Double Stack Tacos" which is a soft tortilla on the outside with some nacho cheese spread on the inside and a crunchy taco inside.

I was going to try all 3 but surprisingly, the Taco Bell I went advised they were out of items for the Spicy Sweet option.

The Cool Habanero has seasoned beef, shredded lettuce, reduced fat sour cream and Habanero sauce and cheese on the inside.

The Nacho Crunch has seasoned beef, shredded lettuce, crunchy red tortilla strips, cheese on the inside.

Neither taco I got looked like the ones in the ads.  There was not much nacho cheese between the layers and the fillings were more sparse.

Both were like a regular taco, but with the tortilla on the outside, it didn't fall apart as easy as the tortilla with the cheese sauce on the inside helped to keep it held together.

As far a flavor, they were very similar with the Cool Habanero having a mildly hot sauce offset by the coolness of the sour cream and the Nacho Crunchy a little milder with the crunchy texture.  If I had to choose a favorite between the two, I would pick the Nacho Crunchy as I liked the added bit of crunch on the inside, but everyone has their personal preferences.

They are a good deal for the price at $1; it is .19 cents less than a regular taco and get you an additional tortilla, nacho sauce and either crunchy strips or Habanero sauce and sour cream (depending on which you choose).

The downside is by having tortilla and nacho cheese, you are probably adding around 150 calories per taco so if you  are on a diet, the lower calorie option would be to stick to the regular taco and consider making it a "Fresco" taco, which will replace the cheese with Pico De Gallo for an additional .30 cents.

To me, the box was worth it as I get to try new products I might otherwise overlook.  I think the sizes are enough to give you a good idea of how the product will perform without ending with something that if I don't care for will just sit on the shelf until it comes outdated then thrown out.

As far a value, the full-size mascara alone cost more at Walmart than the entire box was for $5 shipping.

Although deals vary by location, if you are in the market for DVD check out the aisle in front of electronics for a large bin of popular movies for only $3.74.

They have a large selection of popular movies, such as Fight Club, Spaceballs and 2012 on the outside of the bin. 

The majority are DVDs but they do have several movies on Blu-Ray as well.
